Take a template class

The University Technology Training Center has developed a course called "Web Development: University Template Fundamentals." The class teaches the basics of setting up a site using the Web templates and some tips and tricks to make your site easy to update.

Known issues

The following is a list of the known issues in the new templates. Work continues to resolve these bugs. Please contact us if you can help with a solution or if you see any other problems.

If you find a fix for either of these issues, please send it to us!

Web templates and U identity

The 2009 Web template update is part of an initiative to better brand the University's many Web sites. The Use of the University's Trademarks, Logos, Colors, and Seal policy now requires the Web template header and footer.

What's the timeline for converting to the new templates?

Most University Web sites should be using, at the least, the new header and footer—either 760 or 960 pixels wide—by the end of 2010.

Units that have application sites or other special circumstances that make it difficult to update their header and footer within that timeframe should contact University Relations.

Fluid and elastic 960 templates

At this time, there are no plans to adapt the U templates to be fluid or elastic, but that doesn't mean you can't do it yourself!

The 960.gs site features these two spin off sites as sources for fluid and elastic code based on 960.gs.
