The Web template design unites University of Minnesota Web pages to make them easily recognizable to our visitors and provides enough flexibility to allow units to look unique.

The image to the right (click for larger version) illustrates the elements that make up the Web template.

The University's Web publishing standards require:

The template header and footer combine these requirements with color and navigation standards. It is strongly recommended that University Web sites use the template header and footer 'as is.'

Recommended for Web Pages

Three template sections are recommended—the parent links, the breadcrumbs, and the left navigation area.

Other

The graphic headers and body of your Web pages are the sections where you can create a customized look for your unit.

Guidelines for these sections are offered to help maintain consistency throughout the University's Web sites and to help you adhere to policies and best practices.

Templates, branding, and strategic positioning

The 2007 update of the University Web templates features the addition of Driven to Discover in the template header. As you develop new sites, be sure to incorporate this header with the Driven to Discover graphic that links back to the Driven to Discover site.
